Big Dreams Start in the Backyard

Like a lot of people in 2020, I picked up new hobbies while quaranting at home. I would go out every morning into my garden that my husband and I tilled, planted, and mulched with a lot of TLC to tend to my plants; it was life-giving to get my hands in the dirt and watch things grow right before my eyes!! You will find that most of what I share about involves growing flowers. While I do have fruits and veggies in my garden beds, my heart is really brought alive by flowers. One day, I would love to own my own flower farm and offer you-pick experiences, but for now, I am enjoying starting small. This process has been a lot of trial-and-error and I hope you will learn from my experience without hitting as many potholes!

I am gardening in hardiness zone 8a so all of the varieties of plants and their information you will see here are based on my zone! If you do not know your zone, here is a resource to find out: https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/

Zinnias are a wonderful addition to any garden, because they are easy to grow, yield multiple blooms throughout the summer, and come in a variety of colors. Butterflies and bees thoroughly enjoy fluttering around the vibrant colors as they pollinate and rest their wings. What fun and whimsy to look out at in your yard!
